What you get

Why Northstar

A few things that shape how we advise.

Fee-only fiduciary

We are paid only by you, never by commissions, and we are held to a fiduciary standard — your interest comes first, in writing.

Holistic planning

Taxes, cash flow, investments, insurance, and goals are connected. We look at the whole picture, not one slice of it.

Transparent pricing

Flat, agreed fees you see before you commit. No product sales, no surprise charges, no incentive to recommend more than you need.

On your side

We work for you and explain everything in plain language, so you stay in the driver’s seat and every decision is yours to make.

We gather the details, model your options, and deliver a clear written plan with concrete next steps you understand and agree with.

  3. 3

    Review and adjust yearly

Good to know

What does "fee-only" actually mean?

It means the only money we earn comes directly from the clients we advise — flat planning fees, never commissions or kickbacks from selling products. Because nothing changes our pay based on what we recommend, our advice stays aligned with your goals. As a fiduciary, we are also obligated to put your interests first.

Who do you typically work with?

We work with individuals, couples, and families at all stages — people early in their careers, mid-career savers juggling competing goals, and those planning the transition into retirement. If you want a clear, unbiased second opinion on your finances, the intro call is the place to start.

Do you have asset minimums?

No. Because we charge flat fees for planning rather than a percentage of your investments, you do not need a certain portfolio size to work with us. We will recommend the engagement that fits your situation, and you will know the fee before you commit.

Are meetings virtual or in person?

Both. Many clients prefer secure video calls and shared screens for convenience, and you are always welcome at our Chicago office if you would rather meet face to face. We will set whatever rhythm works best for you.
